"10 Questions with..." is a Courier-News feature in which reporter Rafael Guerrero interviews someone in the Elgin area we think you should know and finds out a little more about what makes them who they are.

Current town: South Elgin
Job: Physician, Susarla Primary Care in Elgin; owner/physician, OM Medispa in Elgin. She specializes in family care and women's health.
Education: Barrington High School graduate; degrees from the University of Illinois and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
Family: Married, 9-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter
What do people not know about your job/s?
The amount of emotional energy that it takes. The amount of presence that has to be there. You have to be emotionally present for every patient, every staff member, and you have to emotionally connect with patients. It also requires patience.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I play the sitar. I learned beginning at the age of 10. I play every year for Advocate Sherman Hospital at their Music by the Water event.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself expanding what's in my current practice already to incorporate other forms of healing, like music therapy and more complementary and alternative medicine and stuff that falls under general practice.
Do you have any advice for any future doctors or other medical professionals?
Do it for the love of it. Have patience, persistence and perseverance. Those are the three main things that will pull you through.
Who would you like to meet?
I'd like to meet Michelle Obama one day. She's a woman who came from so little who made so much of herself despite the odds. I would be curious to hear her story.
What superpower would you have?
I think I would like to disappear and reappear. And have mobility like Spider-Man. I want to be able to fly like that. I don't want to be super strong, just suave and swift.
What places would you love to travel to?
Argentina. I've been to South America but not Argentina.
I would also love to go to Tanzania and Kenya, Central and East Africa.
If you could go visit any point in history, where would you go?
I would say during the Civil Rights movement, that would be an interesting time to observe in the U.S. Maybe the Industrial Revolution.
Do you have a favorite movie?
"The Lion King," that's one of my favorites. "The Jungle Book." "The Shawshank Redemption," I love that one.
What TV show/s are you watching? What are your favorite shows?
"60 Minutes," that's what I watch. Or "Shark Tank," I love that show.
